Every morning
After every bath
When we are poorly
When we put a film on
(at the moment this is mainly tangled and tinkerbell and the great fairy rescue on a loop!)
When the temperature drops
Without fail
Both of my girls bundle themselves (with a little help!) under a blanket like this...
I've lost count how many photos we have of them with their blankets!
The funny thing is we only had one when Avie was born (The one on the right in the photo above).
As she got older she adopted it as hers which we were happy about, but then when lily reached about a year old, she too developed an obsession with blankets!
For months the two bickered over the blanket, which is big enough for them to both fit under but it never worked. So we bought another one in a lighter blue...and after much excitement to start with, neither of them wanted it after about ten minutes and went back to fighting it out over the old one!
We made a rule that whoever got the darker blue blanket first each time they both wanted to use a blanket, got to use it. It was slightly unfair on Lily, who at 1 was never really going to appreciate this rule..but it worked. She soon realised it wasn't worth the fight and adopted the lighter coloured blanket as hers.
Now if you try and put the darker blanket on her she screams blue murder!!
I'm glad i've now documented this...it will probably be so boring to everyone reading and you're probably thinking "what is she going on about these blankets for?" but they are such a big part of our day...of our snuggle time with our girls, that I too have got quite attached to them!
Linking up with the Simple Things this week and hoping to manage it every week!
Happy Sunday! x

I think this is a great story. My daughters are also obsessive about their blankets. They scream when they're not allowed to pull them out of their cribs in the morning. If there is a blanket in the room, they're dragging it around and fighting over it!
ReplyDeletea blanket obsession - agree, you will want to remember that! It's funny the things they do and how unpredictable these things are, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteVery sweet... My daughter has her blanket that my mom made when she was born, and at almost 10 years of age, she still has to have it nightly to sleep. Beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! It is theses things that you will want to remember always.
