Today I am linking up with The Gallery at Sticky Fingers where the theme is what I am grateful for.
I am grateful for.....sisters!!
I love having daughters....two little girls....both with blonde hair, green eyes and a love of dressing up in princess dresses and clippety clop dress up shoes...two little sisters who are becoming the best of friends before my very eyes! I know that if we had a boy I would love him just as much and the relationship between brother and sisters would be just as special, but for now all I know is girls...sisters..and cute ones they are too! I was one of two girls...my lovely sister is 6 years older than me...which sounds quite a large gap but it hasn't made us strangers. I remember annoying her quite a lot when I was younger, then missing her like crazy when she went to university and we now live a 1.5 minute walk away from each other and our families and i consider her my best friend and in all honesty I always have. I can tell her anything and everything and she would be there for me at the drop of a hat. My sister Ellen rocks!!
I want this for my girls...and I feel so priviliged to have a front row seat to watch their relationship grow and can't wait to see what fun they will have together when Lily is just a little bit older.
When I was pregnant with Lily I was so worried that Avie would feel pushed out and be jealous of this new addition...but she has welcomed her little sister into her family with open arms and all the fears I had I needn't have worried over! Avie has impressed us with how huge her heart is and sometimes I am amazed at how much patience she has with Lily who has gone through stages that involved constantly pulling Avie's hair, stealing her toys out of her hands whilst she is playing with them, persistently turning the tv off whilst Avie is watching something, invading her bedroom and stealing her mummy and daddy's attention from her.....our 4 year old daughter is a little star and we are so proud of her. Love that little girl so much!
At 18 months old, Lily is still an annoying little sister to Avie (!) but they are able to 'play' together more and more now and have fun chasing each other and taking it in turns to wrestle with daddy! Lily has a wicked sense of humour already and several times a day all you can hear from both girls are fits of laughter and squeals of delight! Wish I could bottle it!
These are my favourite pics from last year of the girls..check out Lily's spiky hair - love it!
Gorgeous girls and how amazing that they get on so well!
ReplyDeleteCuteness itself. That spiky hair is to die for! I'm very jealous you live so close to your sister. Mine lives an hour and a half away and I miss her every day. She's also my best friend - although I expect if she lived next door we'd annoy each other! x
ReplyDeleteA lovely idea and really special. You can't put a price on that. I have two boys and a girl and they are just starting to really interact and play with each other, along with a few squabbles already but they adore each other. I hope to have another and maybe another girl to even things out (would feel blessed with another boy too) because like you I have a sister and we are really close. x (Following you now!)
ReplyDeleteP.s get onto twitter lovely! x I'm @MultipleMummy
ReplyDeleteYour girls look gorgeous and so happy together! I feel the same way about my boys (both my two sons and my two brothers) Ah, sibling love!
ReplyDeleteI love the relationship between my children. My eldest is 22, my youngest is nearly 2...and there are three between them! It is lovely to see all the different interactions, friendships and dynamics between them. Priceless x
ReplyDeleteFollowing your blog now!! xxx
ReplyDeleteI think your children are super gorgeous! I also am one of two sisters and like you there is a big age gap, my sister is 10 years younger than me, but we are still so close, I love her to pieces.
ReplyDeleteI am now following your blog! xx
