Homework!

 Once again it has been too long since I blogged..but I'm not even going to apologise anymore..what can I say, life gets in the way...but I am striving to change this!  Blogging is constantly on my mind and I want it to be a bigger part of my life...I don't want to forget things..I need to write things down!

Anyhoo...onto more exciting things! Like the fact that I have started the online photography course Snapshops with Ashley Ann Campbell from Under the Sycamore that I won!  For those of you not in the know, it is a 3 week online course (4 weeks for us due to Thanksgiving being in the middle of it) on the basics of photography.  It is self paced and there are different sections to it, so I am trying my best not to leap into it and read it all, not letting myself understand it all!  So I am taking it slowly (and being poorly myself this week has meant that it has been really slow!!)

So the following may be really boring to people, but it is my "homework" after section 1...which I have made myself do today - practicing Composition
(I feel a bit smug that I know what that word means in relation to photography now!)

So I took my girlies out today to a local schools' christmas fair (on the 19th NOVEMBER - can you believe it?!! So early...even to me who is not in any way shape or form a scrooge/bah humbug type of gal!))  I took photos of them on our walk back home...(please ignore the rambling words under each photo - it just helps me!)

 Here they are in their raw unedited state....

{Simple, Rule of thirds-ish, lines, movement}
{Simple, Rule of thirds-ish (wish i'd edited it..could have cropped the right hand side off!),  movement}

{Simple-ish?, lines}

So there you go..i was limited with time..and was pushing Lily's pushchair up the hill whilst trying to take photos! So maybe not the best snaps I could have got, but fun practicing!

I will continue to practice in the hope my pictures get better!

Right...off to read the next section! xx

  3. Well done! Your composition is great and the subjects are beautiful! Next is the urgggg part, not near as much fun as composition.

    btw....I got to personally meet Ashley Ann this weekend at a Christmas Gathering, I felt star struck.....it was completely cheesy.

    Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

  4. You did a great job with the lines and movement. And your girls are beautiful. I wish the weather would cooperate so I could get outside to work on movement.

  5. Thanks ladies...I'm battling with the dreary british weather at the moment Kara, but it is nice to still be able to get outside to take photos! Juleah - wow, that is amazing! This blogging is crazy isn't it - i would get star struck meeting some of the ladies I read about, Ashley Ann included! In a non-weird stalkerish way!!
